On 17^th August 2017, an intellectual discourse entitled ‘Youth Financial Challenges’ was held at IPSAS Seminar Room. The speaker for the discourse was Associate Prof. Dr. Mohamad Fazli Sabri and was attended by 33 participants including UPM staff, postgraduate students, representatives from Malaysian Youth Council and BERNAMA. The objectives include sharing on the current financial scenario especially among youth, income and spending patterns, besides financial management strategies. The speaker also shared a few related research findings on the topic.

According to Dr. Fazli, technology changes have modified our spending habits. In Malaysia, there are a few websites that can assist us in financial management, for example www.imoney.my ,www.akpk.org.my , www.ringgitplus.com  , www.loanstreet.com.my and www.investopedia.co. He also highlighted the importance of insurance policy, takaful and retirement plan. Research shows that financial literacy level among Malaysian youth is between low to moderate. Therefore, youth are advised to manage financial prudently with the purpose to achieve a better well-being in the future. 

Dr. Mohamad Fazli also used financial management simulation technique in his talk.
