4 FEBRUARY 2020, SERDANG:  In addressing the challenges students face in preparing their thesis, the Institute of Social Sciences (IPSAS) is called upon to assist this group. As a result, IPSAS for the 8^th consecutive year continues to organize courses aimed at helping researchers and especially post-graduate students to gain knowledge in research.

In January 2020, IPSAS organized a series of courses. On January 8 & 9, IPSAS organized the Introduction to Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) using SMART PLS 3.0: A Hands-On Approach presented by Dr. Jacky Cheah Jun Hwa from the Faculty of Economics & Management (FEP), UPM. This 2-day course exposed participants to the state-of the art of Partial Lease Square-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) using Smart PLS 3.0. There were 30 participants from various universities including UKM, INCEIF, UiTM, MAHSA, UNISZA and UPM.

On January 15, the course entitled Writing a Systematic Review Web of Science & Scopus Journal Article was held at IPSAS Computer Room with 40 participants from UNIKL, MAHSA University, UiTM, Multimedia University, IIUM, SMKA Pagoh, USM and UPM. The course was conducted by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Shaun Lee Wen Huey from MONASH University. This course received good support because it is a topic that students are looking for currently and what was even more interesting was for this program we had a mother (a teacher)-daughter (UKM student) participation.

On 21 & 22 and 29 & 30 January, the courses conducted were Advanced Statistics Using SPSS Course presented by Dr. Jeffrey Lawrence D’Silva and Qualitative Research Methodology & Data Analysis Using ATLAS.Ti 8 by Dr. Kenny Cheah Soon Lee from University of Malaya respectively. Both courses were also held at the Computer Room, IPSAS with 16 participants for SPSS and 28 for Atlas.Ti.
