INDUSTRY PROJECT NETWORK 2023

On July 29, 2023 Petronas Carigali Sdn. Bhd. in collaboration with the Institute of Social Science Studies (IPSAS), UPM together with the Industrial Relations and Network Center (CiRNeT) and the Sultan Idris Shah Forest Education Center (SISFEC) have successfully completed the "Exploration Planting Tomorrow Program 2023" program consisting of 65 officers from Petronas Carigali Sdn. Bhd. at SISFEC, UPM.

This program is an initiative from Prof. Associate Dr Haliza Abdul Rahman, Head of the Youth Laboratory in Leadership, Politics and Citizenship, IPSAS, UPM as Program Director.

The agenda of this program was started with a welcome speech session from IPSAS Director, Prof. Dr. Haslinda Abdullah and Mrs. Suhaileen Shahar as Petroleum Geoscience Custodians and a brief briefing from SISFEC officials.

A total of 200 trees were planted as early as 10.30 am to 12.00 noon. The participants were given seven (7) types of forest trees suitable for planting, namely Merbau, Meranti Melantai Kempas Rambai Jentik-Jentik Kelat (Syzygium dyerianum) and Sentul (Sandoricum Beccarianum). The selection of trees is based on their suitability in terms of soil holding capacity, water absorption and tree size when mature.

As a step forward for environmental conservation and forest sustainability, this program also aims to foster awareness among participants about the importance of biological diversity and the need to participate in environmental conservation efforts.

This is an opportunity to be proud of in a joint effort to meet the Sustainable Development Goal (Sustainable Development Goal) especially SDG3 (Health and Wellbeing), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), SDG13 (Climate Action) and SDG 15 (Life on Land) towards earth and a greener and more sustainable future.

Certainly we at UPM welcome the efforts and involvement of Government-related companies (GLCs) such as Petronas in supporting the National Agenda of the country through the "100 Million Tree Planting Campaign" by the year 2025.

We at UPM would like to express our congratulations and thanks to everyone who has given a very good commitment to make this program a success. With the collaboration between Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd and Universiti Putra Malaysia, we believe this program will be of great benefit to all parties involved.
