MORIB, 14 September 2023 - The Green Sustainability Committee, Institute for Social Science Studies (IPSAS), UPM in collaboration with Raya Airways Sdn. Bhd. and Kelab Kebajikan IPSAS has successfully launched the Kutip dan Riadah Programme (KUDAH) 2023 at Pantai Morib, Banting Selangor. The total number of staff involved was 43 including from IPSAS and Raya Airways Sdn. Bhd. The programme also received support from the Kuala Langat Municipal Council (MPKL) for contributing the necessary equipment such as gloves and plastic garbage to facilitate the activities.

 This program is an initiative by Assoc. Prof. Dr Haliza Abdul Rahman, Head of Youth Laboratories in Leadership, Politics and Citizenship, IPSAS, UPM as Chairman of the IPSAS Green Sustainability Committee.  The activity began with a welcome speech from the Chairman of the Program Prof. Madya Dr Haliza Abdul Rahman and Encik Muhamad Azmir Bin Mokhtar Head of Continuing Airworthiness Management Organization (CAMO) as representatives from Raya Airways Sdn. Bhd.

This program is carried out casually and we have been given the task of picking up garbage around not far from 10 kilometres of coastal areas. The most cited waste is cigarette butts, beverage plastics, used food polystyrene, canned gas drinks and canned wine. It is estimated that the amount of waste that has been collected weighs 50kg and has been sequestered in landfills to facilitate the process of further waste quotation by the City Council. This effort is carried out for the purpose of interest to bring us into deep reflection on the importance of life, human relations with the environment of the universe, especially coastal areas.

Even if it is only through the small act of quoting garbage, we have interpreted an appreciation and a sense of cleanliness to the earth. In every garbage bag that is filled, there is a deep meaning, and we are the main guardians of the universe. In addition to being able to establish cooperation between two parties and most importantly a sense of care for the nature we love and ensuring the life of our coastal ecosystems is cleaner and safer.

 This activity is one of the efforts to meet the Sustainable Development Goals (Sustainable Development Goal) in particular SDG3 (Health and Wellbeing), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), SDG13 (Climate Action) and SDG 15 (Life on Land) towards a greener and more sustainable earth and future. IPSAS and UPM welcome the efforts and involvement of any corporate agency in the effort to restore the beauty of the beach and the environment.
