UPM Serdang, October 10 - The Institute for Social Sciences Studies, Universiti Putra Malaysia, in collaboration with the Malaysian Cyber Users Association and the Family Empowerment Organisation, held a Roundtable Discussion titled 'Cyber Vices'. The objective of this roundtable is to provide a platform to discuss the concept of cyber vices from various stakeholder perspectives and to propose constructive solutions to this issue. According to the Chairman of the Malaysian Cyber Consumers Association, Mohamad Sirajuddin, the issue of cyber vice, which includes individual moral concerns such as scams, online gambling and pornography, is becoming more prevalent despite the implementation of various awareness programmes. The presenters for the conference included Puan Nafizah Md Fauzi from the Syariah Enforcement and Prosecution Coordination Division, JAKIM and Wan Syahrul Amry Wan Mansor, from Radio Zayan, ASTRO.
JAKIM has implemented various initiatives to educate the community, especially the youth, in addressing this issue. Additionally, ASTRO, through Radio Zayan, provides a segment for listeners to express their concerns about the impact of cyber vices. Radio can also be an effective medium for disseminating information. Among the agency representatives present at this roundtable were IKIM, YADIM, JSJK IPK Selangor, cyber security experts from UPM, UPSI, UIA, legal practitioners, and NGOs.
