SERI KEMBANGAN, 25th May - KRT Zon 1, Taman Lestari Permai, Seri Kembangan and the Institute of Social Science Studies, UPM and several other strategic partners have organized the Karnival Taman Lestari Permai 2024, located at Padang TLP, Taman Lestari Permai, Seri Kembangan, Selangor. Among the activities carried out are cocky competitions, penalty kick competitions, coloring competitions, sales booths, talks on awareness of recycling, pet care exhibitions, soapmaking demonstrations and cooking oil recycling exhibitions.
In this program, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Haliza Abdul Rahman, Head of Youth Laboratories in Leadership, Politics and Citizenship, IPSAS delivered a talk entitled 'Recycling Practices in Conserving the Environment'. The main objective of IPSAS' participation in this program is to increase public awareness on the importance of managing household domestic waste well through recycling practices. In addition, the visibility of Universiti Putra Malaysia in community activities can also be increased.
The UPM exhibition was also attended by the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (Department of Medicine and Pet Surgery), Putra Agricultural Centre, University Community Transformation Centre (UCTC), and Faculty of Biotechnology and Biomolecular Sciences. Among the activities that received visitors were the pet care exhibition, demonstration of soap making from used cooking oil , as well as sales of agricultural products.
The program, which started as early as 7.30am, attracted the participation of more than 1000 visitors, consisting of residents of Taman Lestari Permai as well as nearby residential. The feedback received from visitors is very good and the program should be an annual event.
