VISITS TO BENGKEL MURNI, BATU BERTANGKUP, KANGAR PERLIS

KANGAR, 18 September –  A researchers of research project ‘ Development and Validation of Self Acceptance Scale for People With Physical Disabilties’ have visited Bengkel Murni, Batu Bertangkup, Kangar, Perlis. The purpose of the visit is to meet the staff of the workshop which comprises of people with disabilities (OKU) to be interview as research respondent. The wood pallet furniture workshop has 8 staffs, includes physical disabilities, blind and learning disabilities. They were also the members of Persatuan Orang Kurang Upaya Negeri Perlis. The workshop received various types of wood pallet furniture from individuals as well as corporate company. According to the workshop supervisor, En. Murad, he is very concern with the quality of the furniture to ensure that the customers satisfied with their workmanships. He also stated that the workshop is helpful in earn money for the living. Besides the workshop, there is a hostel building for the staff.

The research project targeted 300 people with physical disabilities as the respondent and almost 90% have been collected from pwd’s across Peninsular Malaysia. The research lead by Dr. Nor Wahiza Abdul Wahat, from Faculty of Educational Studies and IPSAS Research Associate, aim to build an instrument to measure self-acceptance level among people with physical disabilities.
