WEBINAR ON THE WELFARE OF MALAYSIAN SOCIETY DURING COVID-19 PANDEMICS

INSTITUTE OF SOCIAL SCIENCE STUDIES (IPSAS), UPM ORGANIZED A WEBINAR ON THE WELFARE OF MALAYSIAN SOCIETY DURING COVID-19 PANDEMICS

 

Serdang- On February 8, 2021, Institute of Social Sciences Studies (IPSAS), Universiti Putra Malaysia had organized a Webinar on COVID-19 in collaboration with the Institute of Behavioral Education (IPTK), Malaysia Ministry of Health.

 

With the theme of "Unravelling the Social, Behavioural and Well-Being of Malaysian Society in the Face of COVID-19 Pandemic", the Webinar was held through the Zoom and FB live applications successfully and managed to attract almost 400 views among the academicians, health workers and the general public.

 

The main objective of the webinar, which was officiated by the Director of IPSAS, Prof. Ismi Arif Ismail, was to create awareness in the community about the effects of COVID-19 in terms of social, environmental and well-being from the expert point of view. This in the way to develop the ideas and suggestions of experts or thinkers from universities and relevant government agencies.

 

The Webinar panel consisted of Prof. Dr. Haslinda Abdullah (Associate Researcher, IPSAS), Associate Professor Dr Malina Osman (Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, UPM), Mrs. Fadhlina Dato ’Sidek (Deputy President, Family Empowerment Organization (FAME) and Dr Manimaran Krishnan, Director of IPTK.

 

The webinar was chaired by Associate Professor Dr Haliza Abdul Rahman, Head of Youth Welfare and Social Health Laboratory, IPSAS and was divided into two sessions, namely, Talk Forum in the morning followed by the presentation of research findings related to COVID-19 by UPM and IPTK researchers from various disciplines in the afternoon. These sessions also received media coverage from TV al-Hijrah and the Metro Daily newspaper.
