Cultural and Scientific Cooperation Journey - IPSAS Team from UPM, Malaysia to Iran" 

January 30, 2023 marked a historic moment of IPSAS, as the LOI agreement between the Iranian Cultural Centre and IPSAS, UPM was carried out, providing opportunities for future cooperation. This meeting was by Prof. Dr. Haslinda Abdullah, Director of IPSAS, Prof. Dr. Abdul Lateef Krauss Abdullah, Deputy Director of IPSAS, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Haliza Abdul Rahman, Head of Laboratory, and Dr. Zeinab, research fellow. Accompanying the Iranian embassy were His Excellency Ali Asghar Mohammadi, Iran's Ambassador to Malaysia, and Mr. Karimi, the Cultural attaché. Through extensive discussions and a mutual desire for cooperation between the two parties was carefully organized, nurtured over a long period of time. In the hope that this alliance will contribute to the empowerment of youth in the heritage of Islam and society, enriching their overall well-being. The LOI agreement is a testament to the invitation given to IPSAS by Mohammad Oraee Karimi, Iran's Cultural attaché in Malaysia, along with a respected Islamic cultural and communications organization. 

With gratitude, IPSAS received the opportunity to embark on a dazzling journey to Iran, engage in official scientific meetings with prestigious Iranian universities, while immersing themselves in an impressive landscape that adorns the land, symbolizing the grandeur of the country. The IPSAS team began their journey to Iran, at 3:40am on Friday, Imam Khomeini Airport, the team embracing the mystique and charm of their surroundings. Despite any initial notions that may be shaped by the media narrative, IPSAS representation remains robust, unaffected by the negative picture enveloping Iran. With an open heart and mind, they approached their first meeting with the country, eager to unravel stories that were not hyped by the media. United in their determination, they seek to immerse themselves in authentic culture and forge genuine relationships that go beyond the limits imposed by headlines and stereotypes. As the sun rose on the horizon, throwing its golden glow, the IPSAS team embarked on their Iranian adventure, guided by a curiosity and effort to understand. Ready to accept the beauty and wealth offered by Iran, they thanked for the opportunity to witness the wonders of the country firsthand.

IPSAS' first visit was to the Science and Research Branch of the Azad Islamic University in Tehran. Established with a noble vision to empower youth through specialized education, the campus stands magnificently northwest of the city of Tehran. The meeting, held in collaboration with the faculties of International Affairs and Literature, Humanities, and Social Sciences, provides a platform for professors and students from the Department of Sociology to engage in meaningful discussions and exchange ideas with members of IPSAS. In this historic gathering, Shahin Misraoghli, Head of the Faculty of International Affairs, introduced the capabilities of the Academy of Sciences and Research Units and welcomed IPSAS on the tour. The Director of IPSAS also shared about IPSAS and expressed interest in expanding scientific cooperation with the Faculty of Science and Research of the Islamic University of Azad. Khadijah Zulqader, Director of the Sociological Group at the Science and Research Unit, explains the group's scientific achievements and emphasizes the common characteristics of the dynamic Iranian and Malaysian Muslim communities. Further discussions explore the potential of joint specialized webinars, the establishment of a roundtable on the sociology of Muslim countries, faculty and student exchange, the provision of joint grants for research opportunities, and the implementation of collaborative research projects. IPSAS together with Prof. Haslinda and Dr. Shahin Misraoghli, exchanged letters of intent, symbolizing the commitment to future cooperation. Lunch as a sign of respect, in turn fostering intimacy and building bridges of friendship. The tour concludes with a visit to the library center, where the team is impressed by the diverse repository of knowledge.

IPSAS delegates were given the privilege to engage in a roundtable discussion with respected officers and outstanding researchers. The focus of the dialogue revolved around the cultural complexity, cyberspace, and generational transition within Tehran's respected Institute of Culture, Arts, and Communications. The meeting between IPSAS, the Institute for Culture, Arts and Communication Research, and the University of Tehran's Center for Social Studies and Research aimed at fostering international cooperation and intercultural dialogue. The main focus of this important meeting revolvesd around the captivating theme of "culture, virtual space, and generational change." A group of thinkers participated in this interesting discourse, such as Moez Khadim Hosseini from the Department of Sociology, Tehran University, Mehrdad Arabi from the Department of Anthropology, Tehran University; and Maitham Mehdiar, research assistant from the Institute of Culture, Art, and Communication. Overall, roundtable discussions facilitate the exchange of ideas and perspectives on the relationship between culture, cyberspace, and the changing of the younger generation. The meeting concluded with the MOU's proposal to continue to collaborate and conduct cultural studies with a special focus on cyberspace, youth culture, and environmental issues from the Islamic point of view between the two institutions.

Opportunity to explore Al-Zahra University, a major and renowned women's university in Iran, the university is a landmark of academic excellence. At Al-Zahra University we were taken to the central library and document center and we were warmly welcomed by Dr. Leila Tajik, Director of International Scientific Cooperation, and Dr. Mandana Nurbakhsh, Head of the Central Library, along with their dedicated colleagues. As we embarked on a guided tour, we were deeply moved by a visit to a special section for the blind, witnessing the university's commitment to inclusiveness. In addition, the central library reference book hall exhibits manuscript treasures and reference materials, carefully explained by knowledgeable library staff. After the library visit, a joint meeting was held at the Sepideh Kashani Hall, University International Conference Center. Dr. Leila Tajik welcomed the IPSAS delegation and introduced the distinguished professor of Al-Zahra University who officiated the rally. Among those present were Dr. Abbas Abdullahi, Head of Counseling Centre, Counseling Department; Dr. Maryam Khazwarsi from the Department of Plant Sciences; Dr. Maryam Abdulshahi, Head of Department of Physical Education, Department of Behavior; Dr. Vajiheh Sabeti from the Computer Engineering Department; Dr. Sharare Mehdizadeh, Director of the Department of Social Sciences; Dr. Ahmed Abedin from the Department of Industrial Design; Dr. Saide Dast Amoz from the Department of Russian Language and Director of the Pushkin Center; and Dr. Zahra Mousavinejad from the Department of Biotechnology. The meeting began with an introduction to their respective universities, and a description of their own research efforts. Dr. Abdullahi, an expert in research in the field of counseling psychology and extensive publishing records, expressed an interest in working with IPSAS in the field of education management, counseling, and psychology. Dr. Mehdizadeh, emphasizing the numerous opportunities for fruitful cooperation in the Faculty of Social Sciences at Al-Zahra University, proposed the formation of a joint working group between the two universities. The aim is to conduct research that takes into account the cultural similarities shared by the people of Iran and Malaysia. Dr. Abedini, who graduated from UPM in industrial design, expressed his keen interest in the people and culture of Malaysia. He and his colleagues are eager to offer their willingness to cooperate with IPSAS

Dr. Abdulshahi also suggested a virtual joint training workshop in the field of sports psychology and mental skills required by athletes. In addition, she proposed to conduct coaching courses in various sports disciplines such as badminton, in addition to organising bilateral competitions and sports festivals for female students from Iran and Malaysia. Dr. Abdulshahi also announced the intention to organize a competition among students focused on fostering unity among Muslim countries, with Al-Zahra University offering to host. Dr. Thabiti, when introducing the Faculty of Engineering at Al-Zahra University, emphasized the importance of finding common ground for cooperation with IPSAS in the field of computer engineering. Specifically, on the subjects such as artificial intelligence (AI), which will contribute significantly to advancing research in the field and overcoming the challenges faced by AI  Dr. Mousavinejad expressed his desire for joint research collaboration in the field of sustainable environment and waste management adopting a biological approach. Dr. Dast Amoz proudly talked about the leading position of Al-Zahra University in the field of Russian language education and international certification. A brief history of the Pushkin Center at Al-Zahra University and announced readiness to offer virtual Russian language teaching.

Dr. Tajik, Director of International Scientific Cooperation at Al-Zahra University, expressed appreciation for this meeting. He stressed the importance of research projects and joint publications in areas such as psychology, artificial intelligence, women and family studies, youth studies, the environment and waste management. Dr. Tajik emphasizes the importance of organizing webinars and joint conferences, providing guidance and counseling to postgraduate students, offering research opportunities to students, and creating opportunities for students. In addition, she stressed the potential to hold sports events for female students from both universities, thus fostering greater collaboration. The exchange of souvenirs as a sign of remembrance also took place. A formal agreement letter and a declaration of readiness for cooperation were shared, signaling a desire to expand the memorandum of understanding and scientific research cooperation between Al-Zahra University and IPSAS, Universiti Putra Malaysia.We had the opportunity to explore the art gallery at Al-Zahra University, accompanied by Dr. Tajik and Dr. Dast Amoz. The amazing artwork created by talented art students of the university leaves a lasting impression, captivating the admiration of our guests. The tour concludes with a luncheon at Terme, a traditional restaurant at Al-Zahra University.

IPSAS delegates had the chance  to explore the experience at Qom University. Driven by our curiosity, we were taken to visit laboratories and libraries, witnessing the cutting-edge research and innovation taking place in every wall of Qom University. The meeting with Qom University President Dr Sharifi marked a historic moment when bilateral cooperation was established through the signing of a memorandum of understanding that will open bilateral cooperation. 

The next visit was to Isfahan University, paving the way for a rich exchange of knowledge and ideas in various social and cultural fields. The meeting at 10 am, held at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Isfahan University aims to explore and study potential areas with a special focus on the Faculty of Educational Sciences and Psychology. Proposal to create the best exchange of practical experience between the two universities, which showcases the achievements of the Faculty of Educational Sciences and Psychology, a counseling center and a professional teaching qualification development center. The possibilities of cooperation are limitless.

The meeting also serves as a platform to foster increased scientific exchanges between the two universities, research institutes, and think tanks. The goal is to establish strong academic relationships, enriching the intellectual landscape through collaborative efforts. It is a testament to the vision and dedication of all involved, with invaluable guidance and coordination from Hojjatul Islam Arzani, Iranian Cultural Counselor in Malaysia. Letter of Intent (LOI) document between the two universities, which was signed and the exchange of LOI as symbolic of future cooperation and partnership. It marks the beginning of a deep journey of knowledge sharing and transformative research. Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, with 65 years of its existence, stands as a pillar of knowledge and innovation. With 13 faculties, 53 institutions and research centers, and 150 areas of study in doctoral and master's degrees specialty. This respected university holds an important position in the Islamic Republic of Iran, serving as a scientific pillar in the north and an educational beacon in the east of the country. In the museum of the university, we are greeted by various charming exhibits. Portraits of past university presidents, decorated with their famous faces and biographies, evoke respect for the visionary leaders who have shaped the institution. Photos of professors and students from the early decades of the university's founding tell the story of shared experience and growth. Furthermore, important university images and documents, the university's second-preserved presidential desk, administrative tools, teaching aids, and donated materials from the family of respected professors paint a clear picture of the university's evolution. Continuing our journey through the corridor, we found a gallery that showcases the most important and oldest books and publications of the university. It is a testament to the glory of this university in the pursuit of knowledge and intellectual contributions. We also explore the role of the university in the 1979 Islamic Revolution and the ensuing war, which is illustrated through visual narratives. In other galleries, we are captivated by a collection of photographs highlighting the milestones that have shaped the university in decades. The faces of famous professors, prominent members of the university, and permanent members of the Ferdowsi University Foundation adorn the walls, representing the dedication and expertise that has propelled the institution forward. In addition, the tools, equipment, and achievements of old scientific and laboratory sciences stand as a tangible reminder in the pursuit of university innovation. Our journey through Ferdowsi University continued as we visited the faculty of educational sciences and the laboratory of cognitive psychology and to the computer-robotic laboratory. Meeting with university officials are held. Dr. Bazarafashan, Dr. Bagheri, Mr. Karimi, and various professors from various fields were also present. In this meeting, there is an agreement to foster cooperation and exchange of knowledge. After that the luncheon at the university's welfare center, accompanied by university officials, enjoyed not only the taste of the cuisine, but also the closeness and shared experience.
